Taylor Swift has truly outdone herself this time with her album Folklore. Folklore stands undisputed at No.1 position on the Billboard 200 Chart for third week straight. It is for the first time in the last two years when a woman’s album has remained consistent on No.1 for three consecutive weeks. A lot of the credit for third week’s success goes to the release of CDs.
The streaming equivalent album (SEA) and track equivalent album (TEA) data saw some heavy downfall this week. However, the data was compensated with an impressive rise in the album sales total. The CD editions hit the stores and online retailing websites like Amazon. The move has made an impressive effect on the over tally of scores.
Folklore is the fourth album in 2020 to capture the coveted position of No.1 for three weeks on the Billboard 200 Charts. Folklore follows Lil Baby’s My Turn, Rody Ricch’s Please Excuse Me for being Antisocial, and The Weekend’s After Hours. The said albums have stayed for minimum three weeks on the charts in 2020.
Folklore also makes a record as the first album by a woman to spend its initial three weeks at No.1 since 2018. The last album to make such a record was of Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born in 2018. The last album with a single artist to hold such a record was of Taylor Swift‘s own Reputation.
