HBO Max has just dropped the trailer of their new cooking show, ‘Selena + Chef’, starring Selena Gomez, and the fans are going crazy. Well, everybody is becoming a chef in this quarantine period and Selena is no different. And hey! We are not complaining! The trailer of the show looks amazing and we already love the concept because it is completely relatable.
Some renowned chefs did not respond fondly to the new show (we heard you loud and clear Alison Roman). However, most of the audience had a positive response to Selena Gomez. After all, she is not claiming to be a chef but she’s openly declaring she doesn’t know how to cook!
The show will release on August 13, 2020. The major highlight of the trailer was when Selena was asked how would she describe herself as a fruit. She replied she is like Jalapeno – some bites are great while some bites are ‘whoah’!
Selena Gomez on Selena + Chef
The concept of the show is fairly realistic and simple. Selena Gomez will collaborate with ten other professional chefs and learn how to cook. She says in the trailer that she loves to cook but she does not know how to cook. The entire show is filmed at Selena’s home and at the homes of the chefs. The Chefs and Selena Gomez will connect via video call and teach Selena some amazing recipes.
Then, when Selena has done all the hard work, her friends and family will come over to taste her food. That will be the time when it will be revealed if her hard work paid off. The show looks extremely fun and promising. Unlike most of the promising chefs, Selena is truly amateur and makes us feel like one of her own.
The trailer shows us some really funny scenes. Like when Selena Gomez is having a grossed out feeling while sorting an octopus and removing a chicken’s organs. There was also a point when the meal in the oven caught fire. And, not to forget, the overflowed and undercooked mug cake (we think that’s what it was).
Apart from spilling eggs and performing dangerous stunts with sharp knives, Selena + Chef will teach us some really delicious recipes of all kinds. Joining the cast are chefs Angelo Sosa, Antonia Lofaso, Candice Kumai, Daniel Holzman, Ludo Lefebvre, Nancy Silverton, and Nyesha Arrington. Roy Choi, Tanya Holland, and Jon & Vinny will also be the guest chefs.
Alison Roman on Selena + Chef
Like said, the news of Selena’s new cooking show was not received very well by some of the chefs. We are talking about Alison Roman. When the news of the new cooking show broke, Alison tweeted that she may be dead. To explain her tweet better, she made a joke saying that she will be starring in a Disney movie as a child star.
When a user commented that everyone is becoming a chef, Alison replied that she is already dying with such news. She said she does not wish to troll Selena but asked what HBO was even thinking!
Selena Gomez on Her New Album
While we love that we will be seeing Selena Gomez very soon in her new cooking show, we also wonder when we will be hearing her next. Her last album ‘Rare’ was months ago and we are dying here for some more new songs. All said, Selena has hinted that she is working on her new studio album already and it’s not very long that it’s released.
Having said that, she also hinted at a collaboration that might take place between Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez very soon. When asked in an interview, with whom would Selena like to collaborate, she was quick to answer Taylor. Taylor and Selena are great friends for quite some years now… 14 years to be precise.
Selena considers Taylor Swift as her family and says that they have talked about collaboration several times. However, everything depends on their friendship, and people never really know what could happen next!
