Don’t we all love weddings? Two souls are united together for eternity and there’s just love and happiness all over. Everyone loves a good fairytale wedding and if it has to do with the Royalties, it gets even better. Princess Beatrice, daughter of Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, and ninth in line to the British throne, got married on July 17, 2020, in a private ceremony. The wedding came as a surprise for many as it was not scheduled or planned (apparently).
The wedding was supposed to take place in May 2020 but due to the ongoing pandemic, the wedding was postponed. There was no news regarding the new date so it was assumed that the wedding has been postponed for good. But, as it turns out, that was not the case. Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mozzi tied the knot in a private ceremony and here are all details you need to know about the wedding along with the exclusive wedding pictures!
Who is Edoardo Mozzi?
Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi is the CEO of Banda Property. The property developer is 36 years old and has been dating Princess Beatrice since 2018. Princess Beatrice was in a long term relationship with Dave Clark, a British businessman, before coming into a relationship with Edoardo Mozzi. The couple made their relationship official by appearing at the National Portrait Gallery’s annual gala together in March 2019 and got engaged in September 2019. A little less known fact is that Edoardo Mozzi also has a son from a past relationship. His son was the ring bearer at the wedding and also his dad’s best man!
Princess Beatrice Wedding Venue
Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mozzi’s tied knots at a private ceremony held at the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge. It is a part of Windsor Castle. The wedding followed all the social distancing protocols and only 20 guests attended the wedding. Selected music was played along with the National Anthem. A series of readings were performed that also included the mothers of the couple beautifully reading ‘I Carry Your Heart with Me’ by E.E. Cummings and ‘Sonnet 116’ by William Shakespeare.
Princess Beatrice Wedding Gown
Kate Middleton wore Sarah Burton and Meghan Markle wore Clare Waight Keller for their respective weddings. So, it is obvious to wonder what Princess Beatrice wore to her wedding. Well, to answer that question, you’d be surprised to know that Princess Beatrice did not wear any stellar designer’s gown but a hand-me-down.
The hand-me-down gown belonged to none other than Queen Elizabeth II. She wore its London premiere of Lawrence of Arabia in 1962! The gorgeous gown was designed by Norman Hartnell. She complimented the gown with Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara. The tiara belonged to Princess Beatrice’s grandmother and she wore it at her wedding in 1947 with Prince Phillip. The tiara dates back to 1919 and was once in the possession of Queen Victoria.
Prince Andrew at the Wedding
In case if you are wondering, yes, Prince Andrew was also a part of the wedding. Prince Andrew is the father of Princess Beatrice and it made sense for both the parents of Princess Beatrice to attend the ceremony. However, there are no official pictures of Prince Andrew in all the wedding photographs.
This has been an intentional decision because of the latest controversy that involved Prince Andrew. After the Jeffrey Epstein case and BBC interview that went horribly wrong, Prince Andrew has stepped down from all the Royal duties. The prince walked his daughter down the aisle as any father would but, is not the part of the exclusive photographs.
We wish the adorable couple who have embarked upon their new life journey together, all the very best!
