Peacock, the online streaming platform, has announced several new shows that’ll be released very soon. First in the list is ‘Girls5Eva’ that’s being produced by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock and will release in 2020. The show will star the Grammy Award winning singer, Sara Baraeilles. The comedy show will feature a 90s girl band who have come into a rapper’s attention.
That makes the girls of the band, who are pretty busy in the adult lives, to reunite and get the much-needed ‘me-time’. There’s another comedy drama, ‘MacGruber’, based on the parody of MacGyver. Will Forte will play MacGruber as well as produce and write the series. The story follows MacGruber’s life after being released from the prison to find a mysterious villain.
Next is, Rutherford Falls – a political comedy drama starring Greyeyes, Jesse Leigh, and Dustin Milligan. The series follows a small town legend Nathan Rutherford who protests the removal of a historical statue. The Peacock platform is also introducing late-night talk shows like ‘The Amber Ruffin Show’ and ‘Untitled Larry Wilmore Show’.
Amber Ruffin is the first black woman to write for ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’ and is pretty excited for the new series. With the election so close and so much going on, Ruffin is happy to have the Peacock platform to share her views and opinions.
