In the latest episode of ‘The Michelle Obama Podcast’, Michelle Obama brought up the talking about women’s health. She expressed that how important it is for women to have conversations about sexual health. It is related to someone’s overall health and the inability to openly talk about it, causes more damage.
She had Dr. Sharon Malone, an old friend and OB-GYN, with her on the episode. Michelle said that women are not comfortable talking about sexuality and their bodies, that are tied to their health. If a woman doesn’t touch her breast, how would she know that there’s a lump!
Michelle Obama described an incident where she had hot flashes on Marine One. Hot flashes generally occurs a few years after menopause where women feel their upper body intensely heated up. Michelle felt as if her body was fire and everything was melting down!
The former first lady expressed that women need to be more open about these topics, especially with their kids. She said that she has raised both her daughters, Malia and Sasha, in such a way that they’re comfortable asking questions. Michelle Obama encourages more women to be aware of their bodies and their health, and talk about it in the open. Normalizing things is the key after all!
