Dancing with the Stars season 29 has a new host and it is none other than Tyra Banks. Yes! The news has been confirmed and it comes as a pleasant surprise but also as a shock to many. Surprise because, well obviously, we love this dynamic 46-year-old model and shocked because Tom Bergeron has been replaced!

Dancing with the Stars is a dance reality competition series that first premiered in June 2005 on ABC Network. The show format is extremely interesting. It features some of the most famous stars and celebrities (from all fields and genres) paired with professional dancers and choreographers.

The pairs then compete with one another by performing on their rehearsed dance numbers. The judges score them on their performance and the audience votes for their favorite pair. Combining the scores and votes, the lowest rank holder from the competition is eliminated and in the end, we get one winner.

Dancing with the Stars Hosts

Dancing with the Stars has successfully run for 28 seasons and currently all set to premiere season 29. The latest season will be hosted by Tyra Banks and will air somewhere around the fall of 2020. Tom Bergeron has been hosting Dancing with the Stars since season 1. Tom is a famous comedian, actor, and hosted shows like America’s Funniest Home Videos and Hollywood Squares.

There was no specific reason mentioned by the producers as to why they are dropping Tom from the show. They call this decision a new move in the creative direction. Tom Bergeron took the change quite sportingly and the actor tweeted his goodbye in the sweetest manner. He wished luck and success to the show and thanked them for the incredible opportunity and the amazing 15 years. Many celebrities like Bindi Irwin and Lea Thompson also responded to the tweet saying that the show will not be the same without Bergeron.

Tom Bergeron has some minor disputes with the production last season when the former host did not seem to be very happy about the Sean Spicer joining the cast. Sean is the former White House press secretary and Bergeron would have liked if the show had remained away from political connections. Though the producers seem to differ in the opinion and Bergeron respected their decision.

Lisa Canning co-hosted Dancing with the Stars season 1 along with Tom Bergeron. Samantha Harris then replaced Lisa from season 2 and continued to co-host the show till season 9. Brooke Burke-Charvet as the co-host from season 10 to season 17. Finally, Erin Andrews co-hosted along with Tom from season 18 to season 28, marking Tom’s longest co-host. Sadly, Erin Andrews will also not be returning for Dancing with the Stars season 29.
