When Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion collaborated for their single, WAP, fans couldn’t hold back their excitement. Twitter flooded with appreciation posts and the song became one of the most trending tweets last week. However, while the song and video garnered much-deserved appreciation, there were plenty of criticisms too.
All of those criticisms were directed towards ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ star, Kylie Jenner. Kylie made a small cameo on the video and that did not go well with the audience. Many users asked that while Normani’s cameo makes sense, what is a white woman doing in the song? Kylie Jenner is simply opening a door and posing and users think that’s showing white privilege while the black women do all the work.
However, Cardi B took it to her Twitter to defend Kylie’s cameo. She said that she and Kylie are on good terms and their kids are good friends. Even their respective husbands are cool with each other! Cardi B said that while she stands for Black Lives, she cannot make everything about race and some things are simply personal.
As per Normani, Cardi B said that she’s one of the best artists and dancers and the song is all about beats. So, if Normani was to ‘open doors’, it would make no sense at all. Cardi defended Kylie’s cameo on WAP but, later deleted those tweets.
