Arnold Schwarzenegger celebrated his 73rd birthday on July 30, 2020. It is believed that he celebrated his birthday with his ex-wife, Maria Shriver, and four kids. His son, Patrick Schwarzenegger shared the picture of his father celebrating his birthday with delicious cakes on the table. In the picture, apart from Patrick, there is Maria Shriver, Arnold’s daughters Katherine and Christina, and son Christopher.
It is not sure if the picture was clicked on July 30, because the picture was posted on August 4. Nevertheless, Arnold’s kids also posted pictures on social media wishing their dad. Katherine posted a series of throwback pictures in honor of her father. Joseph Baena, Arnold’s son with a former housekeeper, Mildred Baena, also updated a wishing post for ‘Terminator’ actor.
While Arnold celebrates his 73rd birthday, here are some interesting things about the actor that we’re sure you didn’t know about.
Arnold Schwarzenegger – The Bodybuilder
Arnold Schwarzenegger always wanted to be a bodybuilder. He started exercising from a very young age and he knew he wanted to be a bodybuilder since the age of 14. He was so sure of his dreams, that he even the army training. Arnold wanted to participate in a bodybuilding competition and for that, he skipped his army training.
He spent days in army jail as a punishment for the same, but that did not stop him from pursuing his dreams.
Arnold moved to the U.S. when he was 21. While he moved to the country of opportunities, how he moved is altogether a very different story. A lot of people claim that Arnold Schwarzenegger did not obey immigration laws. That means that Arnold Schwarzenegger might just have been an illegal immigrant when he shifted to the U.S. However, nobody has any proof to support the claims.
Arnold Schwarzenegger As Hulk
Yes! The amazing body of Arnold Schwarzenegger could have gotten him the role of Hulk in the 1970s series, ‘The Incredible Hulk’. However, the role did not go to him and was taken up by Lou Ferrigno. To be honest, we do not have any regrets. While Hulk’s massive body would have been justified by Arnold’s physique, the same wasn’t true for the acting bit. Lou acted brilliantly as a professor and a green monster.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Was Arnold Strong
Here is a very interesting story – Arnold’s name was changed for a brief period of time. When he was starred in his first movie, ‘Hercules in New York’, Arnold Schwarzenegger was credited as Arnold Strong. Now, we know that Schwarzenegger is not a very common name in Hollywood but isn’t that the entire point? Arnold Arnold Schwarzenegger is a name that nobody is going to forget anytime soon. Hence, we thank god that he didn’t stick to the silly name ‘Strong’ for his surname.
Arnold Schwarzenegger as John McClane
A lot of times a lot of actors let go of certain roles that they regret their entire lives. We do not know if Arnold Schwarzenegger regrets his decision but we sure can say that one man’s loss is another man’s gain. Arnold Schwarzenegger was offered the role of John McClane in Die Hard franchise but the actor refused it. And thank god he did! Because, who can imagine anyone except for Bruce Willis in Die Hard?
Charged Per Word in Terminator 2
Arnold Schwarzenegger is not really remembered for his dialogues in Terminator series but for his action. Well, except for his iconic – “I’ll be back”. However, did you know that he charged per word in Terminator 2? Yes, he did! And, he was being paid $21,429 for every word he said in the movie. Well, he surely could have added a few more words and earned a few more extra… but it doesn’t work that way!
Also, it is interesting to note that “I’ll be back” was first written as “I’ll come back” but tweaked at the last moment.
Guinness Book of World Record
The legendary actor holds the world record in Guinness book for multiple things. First and the obvious one is for his body. Arnold Schwarzenegger is recognized as the man who has physically grown into the perfect form physically. The other one, however, is not so impressive. It is for beating the most number of animals in movies.
