Robin Wright appeared on screens for the first time in 1984. She played the role of Kelly Capwell in ‘Santa Barbara’, an NBC Daytime show. Her performance was remarkable and she received nominations for Emmys multiple times. Robin made her movie debut n 1987 with the movie ‘The Princess Bride’. The romcom performed well on the box office and Robin received critical acclamation for her performance.
Needless to say, her acting career boomed and we saw her over the next few years in many other good movies. We saw her roles as Sara in ‘Denial’ (1990), Tara Mcguire in ‘The Playboys’ (1992), Kathleen Flannery in ‘State of Grace’ (1990), and as Gwen Tyler in ‘Toys’ (1992). One of her most remarkable and standout movies is ‘Forrest Gump’, where she played the role of Jenny Curran opposite Tom Hanks.
After almost 5 years, Robin appeared once again on the screen in 1999 as Theresa in ‘Message in a Bottle’. Over the next few years, she proved her versatility by performing in a wide range of different roles. She starred as Audrey Dunn in ‘Unbreakable’ (2000), a superhero movie, as Lori in ‘The Pledge’ (2001), Starr in ‘White Oleander’ (2002), Mrs. Reynolds in ‘Virgin’ (2003), Diana in ‘Nine Lives’ (2005) Liv in ‘Breaking and Entering’ (2006), and Belle in ‘A Christmas Carol’ along with many other roles. She also gave some outstanding performances in ‘Moneyball’ and ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’.
Though Robin Wright had impressed the audience over the decades with several amazing roles, it was arguably in 2013 that she created a loyal fan base globally. She starred in the Netflix political drama ‘House of Cards’ as Carrie Underwood and left the audience stunned with her performance and character. She bagged the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in the category of Television Series Drama in 2013. The show was highly successful and had a total of six seasons.
There was some controversy by the end of the show and regarding its last season. The reason was Kevin Spacey and the allegations and cases against him. Despite the obstacles, the last season of the show released in 2018 and we saw Robin Wright acing in the lead role without Spacey and his character.
In 2017, Robin made an appearance in the superhero movie ‘Wonder Woman’ as Antiope. She reprised her role in ‘Justice League’ in 2017 and also appeared as Lieutenant Joshi in ‘Blade Runner’ 2049.

Wonder Woman first released in 2017 and became one of the most famous and most-liked movies of the DC Extended Universe. ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ is the second installment of the Wonder Woman movie franchise. Although the plot of the movie is still unknown (except that it would be based in 1984), we know that the movie was due for its release in 2020. Though with the ongoing pandemic, we are not sure till when the movie has been postponed. Robin Wright will once again return as Antiope. Looking at the box office collection of Wonder Woman, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that we have high expectations with Wonder Woman 1984 as well.
